KIRKSVILLE, Mo.  - - A six-run fifth inning propelled the Truman softball team to a run-rule 9-0 victory in game two on Saturday afternoon against No. 7 Central Oklahoma, as the Bulldogs earned a split after UCO took game one, 11-1.

The win gave Truman its third win of the season against a ranked opponent and second in as many weeks, as the Bulldogs remained at the .500 mark in league play with six games to go. Truman is now 23-15 overall (11-11 MIAA) and will continue a suspended doubleheader with Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday afternoon at 12:00 pm.

The Bulldogs will hit the field with a 6-0 lead in the fourth inning of game one, with the Lopers having runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. The games were initially called following a two-hour, 16-minute rain delay on March 30.

Game 1 Recap – L 11-1 (Box Score):
Through five innings, the Bulldogs and 7th-ranked Bronchos were engaged in a pitcher's duel, but UCO broke through with five in the sixth and six in the seventh to grab an 11-1 game one win.

Starter Kindra Henze kept UCO off balance during the first five innings but ran into trouble in the sixth as the first two batters reached on infield singles. Following a sacrifice bunt, the Bulldogs couldn't get an out at home on a close play, allowing everyone to advance a base and give UCO a 1-0 lead. That turned into a 4-0 lead moments later on a three-run homerun before a single through the left side made the score 5-0.

The Bronchos would tack on six more in the seventh, with Cate Simon providing the game's only offense for the 'Dogs, as her solo shot in the last of the seventh got Truman on the board. Four different Bulldogs tallied hits, while Henze and Kirsten Krause combined to record seven innings in the circle.

Game 2 Recap – W 9-0 (5 innings) (Box Score):
After being on the wrong side of a run-rule decision on Friday, the Bulldogs evened the score with a 9-0, 5-inning win of their own – highlighted by a six-run fifth inning.

Truman wasted no time getting on the board, as Kelsey Bollman drove home Laura Miller with an RBI double in the first to put Truman on top 1-0. Bollman then took UCO starter Amanda McClelland deep for a two-run homerun in the third, making it 3-0 Bulldogs.

Hannah Washburn, meanwhile, needed less than 70 pitches to keep the Bronchos scoreless for just the second time this season, as she allowed only three hits while striking out two for her 13th complete game and third shutout of the year.

The Bulldogs closed the game out with a big fifth-inning that got started with a squeeze bunt by Miller to plate Danielle Lewellen  An Andrea Klipsch double immediately brought home Miller, which was followed by a Bollman double to score Klipsch. After a four-pitch walk to Kristin Grossman and a pinch-run substitution to bring in Nikki Moss,  the Bulldogs were gifted a run when Moss stole second and Bollman strolled home on an overthrow to bring the score to 7-0. Simon then homered for the second time on the day, ending the game with a blast to straight-away center field for the 9-0 run-rule victory.

Bollman led all 'Dogs in game two with a 3-for-3 effort and four RBI, with Lewellen adding two hits of her own.
