TOPEKA, Kan.  - - The Truman softball team scored more runs than any Bulldog program since 1983 in a single-game, touching home 20 times in a 20-1 romp of Washburn (Kan.) on Friday afternoon.

Game two was postponed to Sunday afternoon due to rain throughout game one making the field unplayable for the nightcap. The Bulldogs (26-15, 14-11 MIAA) travel to Emporia (Kan.) State on Saturday before returning to Topeka to close out the regular season with one game at noon on Sunday.

The Bulldogs scored in four of the five innings, leading 4-0 after one, 8-0 after two, 14-0 after three and finally 20-1 after run-ruling the Lady Blues. Seven of the team's 19 hits went for extra bases, including a pair of home runs for Liz Leath and a pair of doubles for Kelsey Bollman. Laura Miller tied a school-record with four runs scored out of the leadoff spot, with the middle of the Bulldog order (Kristin Grossman, Cate Simon, Leath) combining for 10 of the team's 17 RBI on the afternoon.

Hannah Washburn (16-6), meanwhile, got plenty of offensive support as she held WU to just four hits and one run through a complete game five innings.

Truman scored the most runs in a game by any Bulldog team since a 20-0 win against Lincoln (Mo.) on April 24, 1983. The Bulldogs also surpassed the program's single-season record for home runs during the game, reaching 48 total on the season. The previous single-season best was 47 during the 2004 campaign.
