WARRENSBURG, Mo.  - - A bevy of unearned runs unraveled the Truman softball team on Friday afternoon at Central Missouri, as the host Jennies took advantage of six unearned runs to slip past the visiting Bulldogs 5-3 and 3-2.

Truman (18-10, 6-6 MIAA) led in both games but could not hold on, as the Jennies (17-15, 7-7 MIAA) capitalized on Bulldog miscues to notch the sweep. Meredith Kusky (Ballwin, Mo., Nerinx Hall),  Andrea Klipsch (St. Louis, Mo., Lindbergh), and Laura Miller (Columbia, Mo., Hickman) all homered on the day offensively for the 'Dogs, who now travel to Southwest Baptist (4-26, 0-10 MIAA) on Saturday for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.

Game 1 Recap – L 5-3 (Box Score):
UCM got on the board first with a two-run first inning before Truman's bats unloaded in the third. Kusky delivered a solo shot to left to get the 'Dogs going, before Klipsch brought Kelsey Bollman (Maquoketa, Iowa, Maquoketa) home with a two-run blast later in the inning for a 3-2 lead. With the Bulldogs clinging to the one-run edge, the Jennies loaded the bases with nobody out in the home half of the sixth. A Truman throwing error allowed UCM to tie the game, and, after starter Hannah Washburn (Keokuk, Iowa, Keokuk) induced a pop-up and a strikeout, the Jennies brought two more unearned runs home with a single up the middle for a 5-3 advantage. Truman brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh but couldn't convert, giving the Jennies the first game.

Washburn struck out five in six innings and coughed up just two earned runs but fell to 11-4 on the season.

Game 2 Recap – L 3-2 (Box Score):
Four errors saddled starting pitcher Kindra Henze (Palmyra, Mo., Palmyra) with a classic hard-luck loss in the circle, as the Bulldogs fell behind 3-2 after three and couldn't catch up to fall victim to a sweep.

A first-inning Liz Leath (St. Charles, Mo., Francis Howell Central) RBI single plated Klipsch to get the ball rolling, but the Jennies rebounded with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning. Miller then went yard over the center-field fence to knot the game at 2-all; however, UCM added what would eventually be the game-winning unearned run on a sacrifice fly in the third for the 3-2 final.

Truman's offense had just five hits against a pair of Jennie pitchers, while Henze limited UCM to just four hits, struck out six and failed to allow an earned run in moving to 4-4 on the year.
