KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Senior midfielder Sally Smith recorded a goal and an assist to help guide the Truman women's soccer team to its first GLVC win in school history behind a 2-0 victory against Maryville on Friday afternoon.

Smith assisted Suzanne Pelley's first goal in the 32nd minute, then added insurance with her first career tally in the 69th, as the Bulldogs (1-1-1, 1-0 GLVC) evened their record on the season through three matches. Meanwhile, the defense was strong once again, posting its third regulation shutout in as many tries and allowing the Saints (0-3, 0-1 GLVC) just five shots on goal.

The Bulldogs out-shot Maryville 21-10 on the day, including a 12-2 advantage in the second half. Trisha Shoemaker led the 'Dogs with five shots, while Stephanie Williams added four.

Emily Bozdeck lowered her season goals-against average to 0.30 and notched her second shutout.

Truman returns to the field this Sunday, traveling to Missouri-St. Louis (2-1, 0-1 GLVC) for a noon kickoff.
