ST. LOUIS  - - The Truman women's soccer team got goals early in both halves to go with a solid defensive effort in a 2-0 road win at Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday afternoon.

Alexis Heffernan (fourth minute) and Trisha Shoemaker (53rd minute) each found the back of the net for the first time in 2013, while Emily Bozdeck logged her third straight shutout in goal to keep Truman in a tie atop the GLVC standings through the first weekend of league play. The Bulldogs moved to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the GLVC with Sunday's win, while UMSL dropped to 2-2 overall, 0-2 in the GLVC.

Shoemaker had a hand in both scores, assisting Heffernan's goal that came just 3:17 into the contest. Meanwhile, the senior's goal at the 52:43 mark was assisted by Kristina Weishar, who picked up her first collegiate assist on the insurance tally.

Bozdeck, meanwhile, made four saves and lowered her season goals-against average to 0.23 in nearly 387 minutes of work.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday afternoon, hosting former MIAA-rival Missouri Western in a non-conference tilt at 3:00 pm in Kirksville.
