KIRKSVILLE - - The Truman women's soccer team put up three goals in the first 24 minutes of play and rode a fourth straight shutout by keeper Emily Bozdeck to a 4-0 non-conference win against Missouri Western on Tuesday afternoon.

Facing a former MIAA rival for the first time since its move to the GLVC, Truman (3-1-1) got on the board in the eighth minute when Melanie Hunt finished a Sally Smith cross for her first goal of 2013. Then, just six minutes later, Alexis Heffernan slammed home a free-for-all in the box for her second tally in three days to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage.

Truman then capitalized on a MWSU (2-3) miscue in the 24th minute when Smith's corner kick grazed off the shoulder of a Griffon defender and found the back of the net. Stephanie Williams, who made her first start as a Bulldog in Tuesday's contest, added a final exclamation point with a goal in the 62nd minute after cleaning up missed attempts by Heffernan and Kristina Weishar.

Meanwhile, the Bulldog defense held MWSU to just seven total shots, including four on target that were all stopped by Bozdeck for her fourth straight shutout.

Truman will take two days off before returning to action this Friday when it hosts Lewis (Ill.) at 1:00 p.m. in a matchup of two of the GLVC's top teams. Both enter with 2-0 marks in conference play, with the Flyers boasting a 4-0 overall mark on the season.
