KIRKSVILLE  - - The 18th-ranked Truman volleyball team hit .296 on the night and totaled nine blocks in its GLVC home opener, routing Illinois Springfield 3-0 (-16, -14, -14) on Friday night in Pershing Arena.
 
The Bulldogs (7-5, 2-1 GLVC) sided-out at a 69% clip on the night and held UIS (3-7, 1-2 GLVC) to a -.039 hitting percentage in the match. All 17 players on the Truman roster saw the floor, with 10 combining for the 41 Truman kills on the night.
 
Junior Allie Brak was the lone Bulldog with double-figure points, hitting .292 with nine kills and adding an ace to go with 10 digs. Sophomore Emilee Walters put away seven kills and added four blocks, while fellow sophomore Abby Heise posted an .857 hitting line with six kills and a pair of blocks.
 
Truman held UIS to just 19 kills on the night and out-dug the Prairie Stars 50-41 overall. Junior Meghan Zimmerman came two digs shy of a double-double with 34 assists and eight digs, while junior libero Abby Moser piloted the back line with a match-high 11 digs.
 
The Bulldogs return to action this Sunday for a 1:00 pm matinee against McKendree (Ill.).
