RENSSELAER, Ind. - - It took until the final minute, but the No. 21 Truman women's soccer team broke through with a rebound goal to run its unbeaten streak to eight in a 2-1 road win at St. Joseph's College on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (6-1-2, 5-0-1 GLVC) dominated the run of play throughout the afternoon, out-shooting SJC (0-6-1, 0-5-1 GLVC) 29-6, including a 20-3 edge in the second half alone. The win capped a perfect 2-0 weekend in Indiana for the 'Dogs, who moved into a share of first place after Quincy settled for a scoreless draw at Indianapolis earlier in the day.

Senior Trisha Shoemaker got things going in the 23rd minute, corralling an Alexis Heffernan pass and depositing it into the bottom left corner of the net for a 1-0 Bulldog lead. It was Shoemaker's third goal of 2013 and 18th of her career in the purple and white.

SJC responded, however, in the 35th minute, as Stephanie Cradduck scored to even the score and send the teams into the break even at 1-1.

The Bulldogs applied constant pressure the rest of the way and earned a free kick with just more than a minute to play. The blast caromed off the crossbar right to Lauren Seawright, who logged her first goal of the year in the 90th minute, to give Truman the game-winning goal.

Emily Bozdeck was forced to make just one save, as Truman recorded 16 shots on goal to just two for the Pumas.

Truman returns to Kirksville for a key home weekend at the outset of October, beginning on Friday (Oct. 4) afternoon against in-state rival Rockhurst at 1:00 pm. The Hawks are currently just one point back of Truman and Quincy in the league standings at 4-0-2.
