KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - -
The Truman men's soccer team put an early exclamation point on the 2013 season, wasting no time in an 11-0 throttling of Iowa Wesleyan College on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (1-0) scored three times in the first 16 minutes to leave no doubt as to the final outcome, before tacking on three more prior to intermission to carry a 6-0 lead through the first 45 minutes of play. Corey Nolte had a hand in each of the first three goals, scoring the season's first tally in the 7th minute off a Jacob Scrier helper before adding assists on an Austin Hayden goal in the 15th and a Nick Franta goal just 80 seconds later.

Zach Hollstrom scored in the 25th minute off a John Lee assist before Hayden scored again in the 33rd after Ian Abundis found him open along the edge. Dylan Carter then capped the first half fireworks off a Hollstrom and Chris Mansfield double assist in the 43rd minute.

Franta's second goal of the afternoon (assisted by Hayden and Tony Luedecke) and a Nick Tolmais (Schrier assist) tally came just 37 seconds apart in the 56th minute, before Tony Diepenbrock notched his first of the season in the 64th minute behind a Brandon Visonnavong assist. Matt Langley headed in a Mansfield corner in the 80th, before Visonnavong etched his name in the scoring column with one final team goal in the 89th minute, again off a Mansfield assist.

For the day, the Bulldogs pitched soccer's version of a perfect game, holding IWC with zero total shots. Truman, meanwhile, took 35 – putting 20 on target – in the game. Drew Garrone picked up the win in net, spending 56 minutes between the pipes before both Nick Wallner (27 minutes) and Tony Lantz (seven minutes) closed out the game.

The 11 team goals marked the most by any Bulldog team since Oct. 3, 2004, when Truman scored a dozen against Upper Iowa.

The Bulldogs will face the aforementioned UIU Peacocks at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Bulldog Soccer Park.
