Lopers Take Down Bulldogs In MIAA Match-Up

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Second-ranked and two-time defending NCAA Division II champs, the University of Nebraska-Kearney handed the Truman wrestling team a 43-0 loss on Friday night in Pershing Arena. The Bulldogs fall to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the MIAA.
 
The Lopers, who featured five nationally-ranked wrestlers, including two top grapplers in Division II won nine of the 10 matches contested with the Bulldogs open at 133. Truman was without their two active career win leaders in Ryan Maus at 149 and Colton Schmitz at 157.
 
Three matches were decided by decisions as Mark Smith lost 13-10 in the waning seconds of the 141-pound bout. Chase Wrisinger fell 7-3 at 174 and Helmut Rentschler battled top-ranked and national runner-up, Romero Cotton to a 9-5 defeat.
 
Truman returns to conference action on Wednesday night at Lindenwood (Mo.) University.in St. Charles, Mo.
