Lindenwood Defeats Bulldog Wrestling

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lindenwood Lions took advantage of three open weight classes to down the Bulldog Wrestling team 44-3 on Saturday. Truman returns home for the final time on Tuesday night, hosting Fort Hays (Kan.) State at 7:30 p.m.

The first four matches were not contested as Truman was open at each weight class and the Lions also open at 133.

Josh Wells picked up the lone Bulldog victory with a 6-4 decision over Tyler Sexton at 174.

Friday Recap:

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Colton Schmitz, Ryan Ward and Chase Wrisinger pulled out wins in Truman's 29-9 loss to #13 McKendree (Ill.) University on Friday night at home. The Bulldogs return to the mat on Saturday at Lindenwood (Mo.) University for a conference dual.

Schmitz took the down position to start the second period in his scoreless match with fourth-ranked Josh Ballard. Midway through the frame, Schmitz got a two-point reversal and was then able to maintain control to score a riding time bonus point for the upset win.

Wrisinger got his own reversal with about 30 seconds remaining in the third period in his 174-pound match against Luis Alba to pull out a 5-4 victory.

Ward won the 184 bout over Andrew Krawulski 6-4.

McKendree though won the first four matches in the dual to jump out to a huge lead. Jose Torres won by major at 125 over Jabez Zinabu and an open and 7-5 decision by the Bearcats' Ryan Strope over Mark Smith put McKendree up 13-0.

In a match pitting two grapplers in the top eight in Division II, #8 Kyle Williams scored a rare pinfall win over Truman's sixth-ranked Ryan Maus.

Following the dual with Lindenwood on Saturday, Truman returns home to finish up the home season with a dual against Fort Hays (Kan.) State on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
