Paul Trenhaile continued his torrid hitting, collecting three RBIs on two hits and
Mark Roberts struck out seven in the Bulldogs 5-2 win over Hillsdale (Mich.) College on Sunday. The Bulldogs return to Knights Field in Louisville to face Bellarmine in a doubleheader on Monday.
Zak Larkin started things with a single to lead off the bottom of the first and got into scoring position with a stolen base. Trenhaile delivered with a single to score Larkin from second to put Truman up 1-0.
Roberts cruised through the third, striking out the side after a two-out hit and a hit batter, while the Bulldogs threatened but didn't score in the bottom of the inning. Larkin had a late break for home and was punched out at the plate for the final out of the inning after leading off with his second hit of the game.
The Bulldogs did their damage in the fifth, all with two outs. Larkin coxed a walk and stole second,
Corban Williams singled Larkin in and Trenhaile brought in Williams with a hit.
Blake Deaton drove in Trehnaile with a single to make it 4-0.
The Chargers got two back on a two-run double off the bat of Connor Bartlett but Roberts ended his day with his seventh strikeout of the day, fanning Tad Sobieszczanski.
Larkin doubled to start the bottom of the seventh and after stealing third, came in on Trenhaile's sac fly for an insurance run.
Alex Hoffmann pitched a scoreless eighth, working around a pair of hits and
Cody Gardner finished off the final two hitters of the game to notch the save.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Tim Lee tossed seven strong innings and a six-run second inning propelled the Bulldog Baseball team to their first win of the season in an 8-4 triumph over Hillsdale (Mich.) on Saturday.
Blake Deaton led off the second by drawing a walk and stole second.
Dave Gambino singled and freshman
Kyle Smith, playing in his hometown area, lifted a sac fly to right to bring in Deaton.
Will Nader followed with an RBI single and
Corban Williams walked with the bases loaded for the third run. After a pitching change,
Paul Trenhaile doubled in a pair and
Jarod Hahn ground out but brought in the sixth run of the frame.
Luke Ortel tripled in the bottom of the inning and came in on a sac fly off the bat of Tad Sobieszczanski but Lee would retire eight of the next nine hitters until the fifth.
The Chargers scored three times in the fifth on three straight singles and a pair of wild pitches. Lee fanned the last two hitters then set down the Chargers in order in the sixth after Truman on RBI singles by Trenhaile and Deaton.
Lee gave way to
Cody Gardner in the eighth after striking out six through seven innings. Gardner put up zeros the final two frames to preserve the victory.
Truman knocked out 11 hits and stranded 10 runners on base with Trenhaile driving in three with a pair of hits and two walks.
Zak Larkin,
Mike Monfre and Nader also had multiple hits on the day for the Bulldogs.
