KANSAS CITY – For the second time this season, the No.21 Truman softball team has a double-digit winning streak, having picked up a two-game sweep of Rockhurst on Saturday afternoon at Loyola Park on the RU campus. The Bulldogs took game one, 6-2, before cruising to a 7-1 victory in the finale.

The 21st-ranked Bulldogs (28-5, 18-2 GLVC) close out the two-day trip with a doubleheader at William Jewell on Sunday, with the first pitch set to begin at 12 p.m. in Liberty, Mo.

Game 1 Recap - #21 Truman 6, Rockhurst 2
Danielle Lewellen went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot, helping guide the Bulldogs to a 6-2 game one victory against RU.

A tight game finally built in some separation in the sixth, when a two-base error for Liz Leath helped kickstart a three-run inning for the 'Dogs, who changed a 3-2 lead into a 6-2 margin. Truman led 1-0 after one following a Cate Simon RBI single, but RU tied it at 1-1 in the bottom of the second. Then, the 'Dogs scored two in the third on a Kelsey Bollman two-RBI single, but RU again pulled closer in the home half of the fourth with a single run.

Truman's first four hitters went a combined 7-for-13 at the plate with all six RBI, while Kindra Henze earned her GLVC-leading 15th win of the year by striking out seven in a complete game effort.

Game 2 Recap - #21 Truman 7, Rockhurst 1
Andrea Klipsch and Kelsey Bollman each drove home two, and Kelsea Dorsey tossed a three-hitter to help Truman secure a 7-1 victory in the nightcap.

The Bulldogs used a five-run second inning to put the Hawks in an early 6-0 hole, after a delayed double steal resulted in Klipsch touching home in the first for an early 1-0 edge. Then, in the second, Truman had first and third with one out, before Danielle Lewellen brought home Liz Leath on a bunt. Klipsch then drove home Caroline Gatti from third, setting up a Bollman two-RBI double out to right field for a 5-0 Bulldog lead. Bollman would come around to score on a fielding error by the RU center fielder later in the frame.

Truman would get one more in the sixth when Klipsch flied out to center to plate Lewellen for the team's seventh run of the game.

While the offense pounded out 10 hits, Dorsey kept the Hawks off the board, save for a solo shot in the bottom of the second. She struck out six to earn her 13th victory of the season.
