LEBANON, Ill. - - The Truman women's soccer team extended its winning streak to four on Friday night by earning a 3-0 road victory at McKendree University. The Bulldogs got first-half goals from Alexis Heffernan and Kelsey Murphy, along with a second-half tally by Megan Frkovic to pick up their third GLVC win.

Truman (5-1, 3-0 GLVC) jumped on the board first in the 28th minute, when Heffernan – the reigning NSCAA and GLVC Player of the Week – notched her sixth goal in as many games by finishing a Murphy cross. Then, with just 38 seconds left before halftime, Murphy found her way into the scoring column when she found herself the recipient of a Lauren Seawright assist.

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, the 'Dogs put the game on ice, as Frkovic finished a pass from Caitlyn Stephan to give Truman a 3-0 lead.

"A great result for our squad on the road tonight," head coach Mike Cannon said. "McKendree sat deep early and made us work to create chances. After our first goal, things opened up a bit, and the goal right before halftime was huge. There were a lot of good performances tonight."

Truman out-shot McK (1-5, 0-3 GLVC) 15-12 for the match. The stats were relatively tight, with both teams being credited with seven shots on goal and four corner kicks. Nicole Sparks earned her fifth win in net – making five saves in nearly 80 minutes before freshman Katie Mattingly played the final 10 minutes and made two saves.

The Bulldogs now sit atop of the GLVC with only rival Quincy (Ill.), as both Truman and the Lady Hawks are 3-0 in league play. One of four teams right behind them at 2-1, however, is next on the Bulldog schedule, as Truman heads to Louisville, Ky., on Sunday for an 11 a.m. (CT) match against Bellarmine (4-2, 2-1 GLVC). The Knights were defeated 1-0 by QU on Friday night.
