Tennis Recap: Truman Drops Duals In Kansas

EMPORIA, Kan. – The Truman Tennis teams were defeated in a pair of dual matches on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs lost by identical 8-1 scores to Emporia (Kan.) State while the women were downed 8-1 and the men 9-0 to Newman (Kan.).
 
Jake Ohlhausen and Griffin Smith took down Emporia's top doubles team Jonathan Butron and Andrew Davids 9-7 but the other two matches went the Hornets way 8-3.
 
In singles, Davids and Keenan Smith rallied each from a set down to defeat Ohlhausen and number one (2-6, 6-4, 10-5) and Smith at number two (2-6, 6-4, 11-9).
 
In the ladies dual, ESU jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles. Marisa Thome scored the lone Truman team point with a straight set (6-4, 7-6) winner at number three. Lindsey Schlichting battled Kaley Clark at number four to a tie-break loss (1-6, 6-2, 10-6).
 
The men will travel to Marshall, Missouri on September 28 for a dual with Missouri Valley.
 
The women will wrap up the fall season on October 3-4 at the Saint Louis (Mo.) University Invitational a
