CANYON, Texas - - A second straight split capped Truman volleyball's trek to west Texas on Saturday afternoon, as the Bulldogs blanked New Mexico Highlands 3-0 in the opener before falling 3-0 to Colorado Mesa in the finale of the two-day event.

Truman (2-2) had its chances against unbeaten CMU (4-0) in the finale, leading 20-15 in both of the first two sets; however, each time the Mavericks had an answer, rallying back to jump ahead 2-0 with a pair of 26-24 wins. The third set allowed CMU to build an early lead, which it held on to en route to a 25-15 win.

That setback followed a well-rounded dispatching of NMHU (1-3), as Truman was rarely threatened by hitting .273 offensively and siding-out at a 71% clip. The Bulldogs cruised to a 25-13 opening set win, before taking sets two and three by 25-20 and 25-18 scores.

For the day, Allie Brak totaled 15 kills in four sets, adding five service aces for a total of 20 offensive points. Kayla Bastian added 2.20 kills per set, while Lacey Hill and Bailey O'Drobinak combined for 16 kills and just five errors on 28 swings. Both Hill and Patterson recorded seven blocks, while Meghan Zimmerman's 42 assists and 15 digs were highs in both categories on the day.

"This weekend served as a very good chance to see what we need to improve upon heading into this week, which brings with it the start of conference and regional matches," head coach Ben Briney said.

The Bulldogs return to Kirksville on Sunday, and will prepare for a non-conference tilt with Illinois Springfield on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in Pershing Arena.
