WR Recap: #7McKendree 39, Truman 4

LEBANON, Ill. – The seventh-ranked McKendree (Ill.) University Bearcats dispatched the Truman Wrestling team 39-4 on Friday night. The Bulldogs fall to 5-3 in duals this season.

Truman's team points came in the opening bout as J.J. Dorrell scored a major decision victory of 14-6 over Steve Murphy to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.

That lead quickly evaporated as Ryan Strope won by tech fall at 133 over Ethan Rentschler in the next match.

The Bearcats took the remaining eight matches with two more tech falls, two major decisions and a pinfall win at 184.

Helmut Rentschler, Truman's season wins leader, squared off against the number two wrestler in Division II >. Rentschler gave up a lake takedown to end the first period to trail 4-1 then ( ) put it on in periods two and three en route to an 18-7 victory.

The Bulldogs return to Pershing Arena on February 5 hosting Missouri Valley College at 7:30 p.m.
