Wrestling Recap: #9 Lindenwood 30, Truman 7

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Ninth ranked Lindenwood (Mo.) University spoiled Truman's Senior Night with a 30-7 victory in an NCAA Division II Wrestling dual on Thursday night. Truman will next be in action at the NCAA Regionals in Mankato, Minnesota next weekend.

The night started by honoring 10 seniors (seven wrestler, two student assistant coaches and student manager) and Head Coach David Schutter. Coach Schutter was recognized for his 25 years as coach of the Bulldogs.

J.J. Dorrell lost a tough 5-4 decision to start the evening at 125. Dorrell was down 4-3 to Blayne Shockley to start the third period and got an escape to tie things up with 35 seconds left, however Shockley had accumulated riding time of 1:09 to take the extra point and the win.

Rafael Lopez cut the margin to 7-4 with a major decision win at 141. Lopez grabbed a take down and a near fall in the first period then repeated that in the second for a 9-0 lead. He would close the match winning 13-2.

Devon Fenstermaker scored a victory in his final match in Pershing Arena. Fenstermaker led 3-1 after two, gave up an escape with 1:25 left but did not allow a takedown and scored the extra riding time point for the 4-2 win.
