Wrestling Downed By Top Division II Programs

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Truman Wrestling team was on the short end of each of their three duals on Friday afternoon at Lindenwood. The Bulldogs lost to two top 10 teams in Division II before falling 27-21 in the nightcap to Ouachita Baptist.

The #6 Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers and #10 Lindenwood Lions shutout the 'Dogs in the first two duals on Friday. The Rangers featured five wrestlers that are currently ranked nationally in the top eight in their respective weight classes while Lindenwood had two individuals ranked.

Ethan Rentschler got a Bulldog hand raised for the first time when he won via medical forfeit over Harrison Barnman and Rafael Lopez followed with a 7-3 decision over Gunnar Smith. Those two did not wrestle in the first two duals.

Steven Serbinski (165) and Matt Yancey (174) picked up two more wins against OBU. Serbinski got the only pinfall for Truman when he put Jacob Sherill down 42 seconds in his match and Yancey doubled up Alex Pollock by a 12-6 score.

Samuel Reeves was able to break through to the win column after two hard fought losses earlier in the day. Reeves lost 6-5 to UWP Jake Armellani and 5-3 to Lindenwood's Dillon Archer at 197. Reeves claimed a 5-3 win over OBU's Austin Bailey.

The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend at the Missouri Valley College Invitational in Marshall.
