RECAP: Wrestling Competes At Augie Duals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Truman Wrestling faced a pair of nationally-ranked opponents among the four duals they competed in on Saturday as part of the Augustana (S.D.) Duals. The Bulldogs will face two more opponents on Sunday in Minnesota State.

Right out of the gate, Truman squared off against #16 and host Vikings of Augustana. Truman took a 6-0 lead with JJ Dorrell and Caleb Osborn scoring decision wins at 125 and 133 respectively. Dorrell won 7-2 over Javier Vieyra and Osborn improved to 5-0 with a 5-0 win over Adrian Lozano.

The Vikings scored wins in the next five matches to take command. Steven Serbinski won by fall for Truman at 174. It was one of two wins on the day for Serbinski.

At 197, Sam Reeves lost by a 3-2 score to the seventh ranked wrestler in the region, Ben Goodwin. Reeves bounced back later on in his other bout, a 7-2 victory over Southwest Minnesota State's Ashton Bartlett.

The Bulldogs lost all 10 matches, five by fall and three by tech fall to #6 Nebraska-Kearney. Serbinski (7-5) and Dorrell (6-2) had the only losses by decision.

Osborn was a forfeit winner and Dustin McClintock (165), Serbinski (174) and Brandon Petit picked up wins in a 26-18 loss to Northwestern (Iowa). McClintock won by injury forfeit 1:08 into the match, Serbinski won by fall in the third period and Petit was a 15-2 major decision victor.

In addition to Reeves' win against Southwest Minnesota State, McClintock was a 14-5 winner against his Mustangs' opponent in the 39-7 loss.
