JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.  – The Bulldog Baseball picked up their first win of the season and nearly got a doubleheader sweep after rallying from eight runs down in game two only to lose in extra innings against Lincoln University.

Truman won the opener against the Blue Tigers 8-4 but fell in the second game 12-11 after scoring four runs to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning. The Bulldogs will travel to Evansville, Indiana for three games against a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division foes. Truman will play two games against the University of Southern Indiana and one against Saint Joseph's (Ind.) College that will be counted as non-conference games.

Game 1 Recap:
Truman busted out with six runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed in the opener against Lincoln. Brendan Trimble had an RBI double in the inning and Nick Agliolo continued his torrid start with an run-scoring single. Truman scored the six runs on only those two hits and sent 10 hitters to the plate.

The Bulldogs got back-to-back jacks from Dave Gambino and Jason Priest in the fifth to extend their lead out to 8-1.

Starter Nate Lukas allowed only two hits through the first five innings and struck out seven before running into a touch of trouble in the sixth. After retiring the first hitter, Lukas plunked a batter, walked the next and was then lifted for Tyler Spencer. The Blue Tigers would score three times in the inning to cut the lead in half.

Peter Young picked up where he left off last season in the bottom of the seventh as he got a groundout and struck out the final two hitters to preserve the win for Lukas.

Agliolo was 2-for-3 for Truman and Alex Ludwick had two of the three Lincoln hits.

Game 2 Recap:
Tables were turned in game two as the Blue Tigers jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one and had an 11-3 advantage after five innings.

Truman scored first when Mason King was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on an fielding error by the Lincoln third baseman.

However, Bulldog starter Brad Molski did not have his command in the bottom of the first and Lincoln took advantage with the five-run frame on only one hit.

Joey Gardner hit a sac fly to plate Michael Judson in the second to make it 5-2.

The Blue Tigers would get that run back in the third and would go on to score three in the fourth and two in the fifth for the large lead.

Truman's comeback started in the sixth. Josh Abegg got the RBI the hard way with a bases loaded hit by pitch and Dave Gambino singled in another run. Jason Priest singled in two more but Truman left two runners on base.

Things held steady until two outs in the top of the ninth. Adam Gregorich hit a pinch hit RBI single and after a wild pitch that scored Kyle Smith, Gambino drilled a two-run single to tie things up at 11 apiece.

The Bulldogs missed an opportunity in the 10th when Brendan Trimble singled and got to third base with two outs.

Lincoln got the same chance in their half of the 10th and took advantage to score the walk-off win. Kaleb Davis singled with one out and stole second with two outs. He would score the game winner on an RBI single off the bat of Nick Lovell.

Despite taking the loss, Adrian Morris had an impressive Bulldog debut in relief. Morris righted the ship for the Bulldogs after entering with two outs in the fifth. Morris allowed four hits in five innings and struck out four.

Gambino was 3-for-6 with three RBIs as Truman had 14 hits in game two.
