EVANSVILLE, Ind.  – The Truman Baseball team trailed by four and six runs but managed to rally back and end their showdown with Southern Indiana to extra innings before falling 14-13 on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday against Saint Joseph's (Ind.) College at 10 a.m.

Nick Agliolo went 4-for-6 and Dave Gambino drove in four runs as Truman would not go away in the battle of the last two NCAA Midwest Region champs.

The Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 after one, took a 4-2 lead in the third but then fell behind by scores of 8-4 and 13-6 after four innings.

Truman scored three times in the sixth and two each in the seventh and eighth innings to tie the game at 13 apiece.  In the ninth, Brendan Trimble led off with a double and went to third on a sac bunt. Agliolo drew a walk and stole second but an infield popup could not score the go ahead run. T.J. Wood walked to load the bases but Mason King grounded out to first to strand the bases loaded. The Bulldogs stranded 15 runners on base during the game.

Peter Young left a pair of Screaming Eagles on base in the bottom of the ninth and another in the 10th in his two innings of work. Matt Tometz was tagged with the loss after giving up three straight singles in the bottom of the 11th after one out to give USI the victory.

Both teams used five pitchers apiece in the 27-run, 33-hit four hour and five minute affair. The teams also combine for nine errors.

Six Truman players had two hits with Agliolo raising his season average to .632 (12-of-19) with his four-hit afternoon.
