ROLLA, Mo.  – Mason King's triple was the only extra base hit for the Bulldogs in a doubleheader loss to Missouri S&T on Saturday in Rolla. The Miners shutout the 'Dogs 7-0 in the opener and held on for a 4-3 win in game two. The Bulldogs will look to earn a split in the series with a doubleheader on Sunday.

Truman had 12 hits on the afternoon and hit .203 for the pair of games. King, T.J. Wood, Dave Gambino, Brendan Trimble and Nick Agliolo had two hits apiece for Truman that for the second straight week dropped the first two games of a four-game series.

Game 1 Recap:
Dan Borek allowed three hits in pitching a complete-game shutout in the opener as the Miners scored three in the third and four in the fifth to take the win.

Truman looked to jump on top in the first but couldn't take advantage of a pair of walks. Dave Gambino drew the second one, a two-out walk and was trying to score on Brendan Trimble's single up the middle but was thrown out by centerfielder Tyler Bodenstab at the plate.

The second time through the batting order got the Miners going as Bodenstab led off the third with an infield single. Eli Miller followed with a hit to score the game's first run then a throwing error compounded problems for Truman to make it 2-0 S&T. A third hit from Tyler Johnson made it 3-0.

The first two hitters reached to start the Miners' fifth inning and more fielding problems allowed two of the four runs in the inning on an error. Lance Portwood plated two more with a two-out RBI single to make it 7-0.

Borek allowed a two-out single to Adam Gregorich in the seventh and a two-out triple by King before shutting down the final four hitters for his sixth win of the season.

Tyler Spencer earned the game one start and went seven innings allowing seven runs, four earned and walked no one.

Game 2 Recap:
The Miners were able to hold on for a 4-3 win in game two. The Bulldogs led 2-1 after one but fell behind 4-2 with a three-run, third inning by S&T.

T.J. Wood reached on a passed ball strikeout in the top of the seventh and would score on an RBI single by Gambino with one-out. Truman had Nick Agliolo at second and Gambino at first but Jason Priest's sac bunt attempt was popped up and caught by the third baseman for the second out in the inning.

Brendan Trimble then worked a full count before striking out swining to closer Ethan Krenning to end the game.

Aaron Bedsworth improved to 7-2 on the season with six and two-thirds innings of work. He struck out four and didn't walk anyone while giving up nine hits, six by Truman in the first two innings.

Kent Frantz went the distance for Truman as he gave up six hits and four runs, three earned in taking the loss.
