KIRKSVILLE, Mo.  – The Bulldog Baseball team was held to six hits in a 4-1 non-conference loss to Illinois Springfield on Tuesday afternoon. Truman returns to action this weekend for a key GLVC West Division series at home against Missouri-St. Louis. Both days doubleheaders begin at noon.

A two-out RBI single over the outstretched glove of shortstop Nick Agliolo off the bat of Austin Muench gave the Prairie Stars the lead in the third inning. Truman starter Brad Molski gave up a leadoff single but erased it on a 6-4-3 double play. Jake Redlinger hit a ball deep to the centerfield fence for a double and Muench got it over the glove for the early lead.

Trey Hannam hit a towering home run to left in the fourth inning to put UIS up 2-0.

Molski retired the first two in the fifth but after a walk and a disputed double down the left field line UIS loaded the bases for number three hitter Gabriel Acevedo. The Prairie Star third baseman lined a ball into left center scoring two more for a 4-0 lead.

The Bulldogs had their chances early but lost three runners on the base paths as Mason King, twice and T.J. Wood were thrown out by catcher Aaron Kuper.

Adam Gregory, Gavin Collins and Kyle Strepek took to the hill for UIS and allowed five hits through the first eight innings of work. Strepek ran into some early trouble in the ninth as he hit King on a 3-2 pitch and walked Agliolo. After a flyout by Dave Gambino to center, Richard England was summond and gave up a fielders choice groundout to Jason Priest that scored King. Brendan Trimble followed with a hit to bring the tying run to the plate in pinch hitter Charlie Kreh. England fanned Kreh looking for his seventh save of the season.

Gregory was named the winner despite going three innings to improve to 5-2.

Molski was tagged with the loss to fall to 0-4. Austin Tinsley worked four and a third innings of relief work and allowed two hits and struck out four.

T.J. Wood had a pair of hits for Truman.
