RECAP: #13 Truman 2, Drury 1

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Hanna Burke scored 1:40 into the contest and Delaney Kooken scored the eventual game winner as #13 Truman Women's Soccer downed Drury 2-1 on Friday afternoon to improve to 6-0-1 overall and 5-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Burke scored her second goal of the season after Kelsey Murphy delivered a long leading pass down the left side of the field. Burke battled the Panther defender for possession and then beat keeper Tima Haberberger on the short side for the early lead. It was Truman's first, first half goal this season.

With about 15 left in the first half, Stephanie Williams headed a cross over to Delaney Kooken and she buried it for her team leading fourth goal of the season to make it 2-0 Bulldogs.

Truman controlled most of the match but the Lady Panthers made it interesting with under 10 minutes left. A foul outside the 18-yard box was called on Truman and Uxoa Bertiz drilled the free kick into the top right corner to close to within one and also break Truman's shutout streak.

The Bulldogs had not allowed a goal since the first half of the season opening game against Ashland and it spanned 532:35 over 12 halves.

Truman returns to action on Sunday afternoon at noon against Missouri S&T.
