Game 2 Box Score (HTML)

JOPLIN, Mo.  The Bulldog Baseball team earned a series split by taking the final two games of their four game series with Missouri Southern on Sunday.

Truman took the opener 9-8 in extra innings and won the nightcap behind 10 RBIs from Brendan Trimble and Dave Gambino.  Trimble went 5-for-8 on the afternoon with seven runs batted in.

The Bulldogs will take next weekend off from the schedule and will open up their home season March 4-5 against the University of Wisconsin Parkside.

Charlie Kreh hit a game-winning single to score Brendan Trimble and Peter Young notched save number one on the season in Truman's 9-8 extra inning victory in the opener.

Both teams scored runs in their first four at bats and the Lions led 8-6. Trimble singled to start the sixth and Kreh walked with one out. Jason Priest delivered the tying hit with a double to left center field.

Austin Tinsley worked a scoreless sixth and seventh innings, working around a one out double in the sixth and a lead off walk in the seventh. The Lions moved the winning run into scoring position on a bunt but Tinsley retired the next two via strikeout and flyout.

Trimble led off the eighth with a double to left center and came around on Kreh's single up the middle. Young came in to close things out and put the Lions down 1-2-3 for the save.

Bryan Clark pitched five innings and won his first collegiate game and Brendan Trimble drove in six runs, four on a Grand Slam in Truman's 15-11 win to earn the series split.

The Bulldogs led 5-0 after their first two at bats but the Lions chipped away with a single run in the bottom of the second and two in the third.

Truman busted things open in the fifth. Chris Iliopoulos started things with a double. Josh Abegg drove in the first of six runs in the inning. Trimble brought in a pair with a single to right and Dave Gambino followed with a three-run homer to make it 11-3.

After the Lions scored a single run in their half of the fifth, the Bulldogs loaded the bases with nobody out but couldn't score as two runners were erased at the plate on fielder's choice. In stepped Trimble and cleared the bases with a slam to right putting Truman up 15-4.

Southern got a pair of two-run homers in their next at bat to cut the lead to 15-8 and plated three more in the seventh before Adrian Morris retired the final two hitters.
