RECAP: 'Dogs Draw With Eagles

ASHLAND, Ohio – Kelsey Murphy's goal early in the second half helped the Bulldog Women's Soccer team earn a 1-1 draw against Ashland University in the season opener of the 2017 season.

Murphy's goal came from a feed from Megan Oostendorp five minutes into the second half to square the match with the Eagles at one. Ashland got on the board first when Korinna Lakes scored from a pass by Hannah Simard in the 30^th minute.

Ashland put the pressure on early as they outshot the Bulldogs 8-1 in the first half with a 6-0 tally on shots that were on net. Katie Mattingly stopped five in the first and the only shot she faced the remaining 65 minutes counting the second half and two overtime periods.

The Bulldogs put four shots on goal, including the goal by Murphy in the second and overtime periods. Murphy finished with three total and had the one in the first overtime that Abby Lampe needed to save to preserve the tie.

Truman will head to Ohio Dominican on Saturday for a match with the Panthers at noon.
