Riding a four-game conference winning streak, the Truman Women's Soccer returns home for a pair of matches. The Bulldogs will host Maryville University on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday at 2:30.

Truman is tied with McKendree (4-0-1), Quincy (4-1) and Maryville (4-1-1) for the most wins in the GLVC. The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend in which they defeated Drury 3-0 and Missouri S&T 2-1.

Allison Lockett leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assists for seven points and Jen Seithel is second with two goals and one helper for five points. Nine separate players have scored goals this year.

Katie Mattingly has allowed seven goals in eight games for a 0.83 goals against average. She has three shutouts on the season and 36.5 shutouts for her career. Mattingly moved up to third in career keeper minutes played over the weekend and stands at 5,989:18.

Maryville is 5-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the GLVC after knocking off Illinois Springfield and Quincy over the weekend at home. Alex Johnson leads the Saints with four goals and Allison Verville has five assists. Keeper Alison Riddle has allowed eight goals in eight games played with two shutouts.

The Bulldogs are 6-2-1 all-time against Maryville and won 3-0 last year behind a pair of goals by Erica Atnip and another by Stephanie Williams.

Truman is 11-8-3 all-time against Missouri-St. Louis but played to a scoreless draw against the Tritons in Kirksville last season. The Tritons are 1-5 in the GLVC and 2-5-1 overall. Lexi Norton has three of the team's six goals this season while UMSL has utilized four keepers this year with McKenzie DeRouen seeing the bulk of action with seven games and 431 minutes played.

QUICK GOALS…Twice this season, Truman has scored consecutive goals within a minute of each other. On September 17 against Rockhurst, Allison Lockett scored two goals in a span of 29 seconds, which is most likely, a Bulldog record for fastest consecutive goals scored by the same player. Locket was again part of a quick turnaround on September 24 when the Isabel Kurzban scored at the 50:47 mark and Lockett added a goal 32 seconds later for a 2-0 lead.

GOIN' DEEP…In the last four matches, Head Coach Mike Cannon has used his depth on the bench. He has used a rotation of nine to 12 players off the bench. Five of the last 10 goals scored have come from non-starters. Only two field players have played all 360 minutes over the last four matches, freshman defender Camryn Sprague and junior defender Laura Ney.

GLVC WEEKLY AWARDS…Senior midfielder Allison Lockett was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week after her two goals, one assist performance against Rockhurst on September 17. It was the first POW award for the Bulldogs this season and first in the career for Lockett. Katie Mattingly won five defensive players of the week awards last season and Kelsey Murphy was an offensive player of the week on September 19 last year.

AROUND THE GLVC…As mentioned above, four GLVC teams have four league wins with only McKendree having an unblemished mark of 4-0-1. Quincy (4-1) and the Bearcats will meet on Sunday and both have played one fewer match than Truman (4-1-1) and Maryville (4-1-1). The top eight teams in the conference will qualify for the league tournament that begins at the end of the season.

GLVC Individual Leaders…Sydnee Carroll of McKendree leads the league in scoring with six goals and five assists for 17 points. She is the only GLVC player in double figure points with the next closest being Madelyne Juenger (Southern Indiana) and Kerri Morris (Drury) with nine. Zoe Brochu of McKendree has allowed the fewest goals with a 0.27 goals-against average.

ACADEMIC HONORS…Mattingly was named a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American (Second Team) last season as was the fourth Bulldog to earn that honor. In addition, 21 players on the 2016 roster earned the Academic All-GLVC award, meaning they posted at least a 3.30 GPA for the academic year.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD…The Truman Women's Soccer team earned the GLVC Sportsmanship Award from the conference coaches last season. They joined Football, Baseball, Women's Cross Country and Swimming to earn team awards for Truman and helped the school earn their first ever conference overall sportsmanship award.

UP NEXT…After this weekend, Truman will faceoff with McKendree on Friday October 6 in Lebanon, Illinois. The two teams met three times last year with Truman holding a 2-1 record over the Bearcats. Southern Indiana will be the second match of that weekend trip on Sunday.
