KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State University volleyball team is catching fire and has won seven matches in a row for the first time since 2014. That streak is one greater than a stretch the Bulldogs had earlier in the season, but the Purple and White will face three true-road matches this week, a setting in which they are 3-3 so far this fall. Truman has a pair of rematches against Quincy and William Jewell that sandwich a showdown with one of the GLVC's best teams in Rockhurst.

Last Time Out - Quincy
Truman hosted Quincy back on Sept. 15 in its second home date of the year and had no problem dispatching the Hawks. The Bulldogs out-hit their opponent .228 to .068 and won with set scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-19. Ellie Kaat (11 kills) and Sam Yancy (10 kills) teamed up on the attack while Yancy (14 digs) and Savvy Hughes (34 assists and 10 digs) each notched a double-double on the night. The Purple and White also sent home eight service aces, their most this season inside Pershing Arena.

Scouting Report - Rockhurst
Once again, Rockhurst can be found at the top of the conference standings with an overall record of 16-2 including 7-1 in league play. In year No. 31 under veteran head coach, Tracy Rietzke, the Hawks were ranked No. 14 in last week's AVCA poll and have been on the right side of things in seven-straight matches. Rockhurst boasts three attackers with at least 150 kills including Alyssa Woodman (239), Karli Reichert (227) and Emily Matio (150). The assists' leader is Dani Prusha with 572, Kalie Arnold is on top of digs with 353 and Matio (56 blocks) runs the show above the net.

Last Time Out - William Jewell
This is the match that got Truman going and opened its seven-match winning streak back on Sept. 11. In their 2018 home opener, the Bulldogs hit a blazing .333 to William Jewell's .079 and were victorious thanks to set scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-20. Kaat racked up 14 kills, seven more than the next-closest Bulldog, Hughes had 39 assists and Claire Wandrey registered a pair of service aces. Defensively, Lauren Wacker was on top of digs with 19 while Holly Hildebrand (pictured) and Natalie Brimeyer each had three total blocks.

Wack Attack
No player in the GLVC has been better behind the service line than the Bulldogs' junior libero, Wacker. The Chesterfield, Mo. native leads the league in both total service aces (29) and aces per set (0.49). In fact, Wacker's 29 aces are already as many as she had as a sophomore and eight off her freshman mark. Defensively, the third-year veteran is ninth in the conference in digs per set (4.8) and total digs (283).

Monster in the Middle
Natalie Brimeyer continues to improve her hitting. Brimeyer hit .248 as a sophomore before .304 last season and is now up to .325, which is good for a tie for third in the GLVC. The senior is also seventh in the league in total kills with 121. This past week, the fourth-year middle hitter hit .327 with 23 kills (2.56 per set).

Rookie in Waiting
The team's kills leader, Kaat, left the match on Friday against UMSL late in the first set. Insert the freshman, Morgan Smith. Smith proceeded to rack up a team high 11 kills against the Tritons followed by 10 (match high and only Bulldog with 10+) on Saturday vs. Maryville in her first career home start.

Up Next
Next up, Truman will compete in the Regional Crossover on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 12-13 in Indianapolis, Ind. with three matches in two days. The Bulldogs' three opponents are yet to be determined.
