KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The final week of the 2018 regular season is upon us for the Truman State University volleyball team. Coming off a five-set loss at No. 13 Drury, the Bulldogs, who are just 3-5 in their last eight matches, will look for their first two-match winning streak since the Midwest Region Crossover. The Purple and White will make a nonconference trip to Lindenwood on Tuesday (6 p.m.) before hosting Indianapolis (7 p.m.) and Lewis (4 p.m.) on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Scouting Lindenwood
Year two for future GLVC member, Lindenwood, under Will Condon couldn't have had a much better start as the Lions won eight of their first nine matches including a sweep of 22nd-ranked Augustana on August 31. Since then, however, Lindenwood has gone just 6-11 including a six-match losing streak in the midst of September. With that being said, the Lions own an 8-2 mark in matches outside of MIAA play, which is what Tuesday's showdown with Truman will be. Lindenwood is currently part of a three-way tie for seventh in the MIAA at 6-10 and the top eight teams in the league make its conference tournament.

Last Time Out - Indianapolis
After dropping the first set, Truman won the next two to take the match lead over homestanding Indianapolis. However, the Greyhounds proceeded to answer with wins in the fourth and fifth to hand the Bulldogs their second-consecutive loss. The Purple and White were led by Ellie Kaat (15 kills, .314 hitting percentage), Savvy Hughes (40 assists), Holly Hildebrand (six block assists), and Lauren Wacker (20 digs).

Last Time Out - Lewis
Truman ran into a buzzsaw in the form of No. 5 Lewis in the team's GLVC opener. The Flyers swept the Bulldogs inside Neil Carey Arena and out-hit them, .240 to .029. Truman had its six-match winning streak snapped and fell to 7-2 while Lewis, also 7-2, won its 2018 home opener and was victorious in two-straight outings. The Bulldogs were led by Ellie Kaat (11 kills and three block assists), Savvy Hughes (24 assists), Natalie Brimeyer (three block assists), and Lauren Wacker (17 digs).

Playoff Picture
Right now, Truman is in sole possession of seventh place in the GLVC standings and the top eight teams will play in the league tournament on Nov. 8-10 at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill. The Bulldogs were not included in the NCAA's first regional rankings on Oct. 24, so it looks like they'll have to win the conference tournament in order to make the field of 64 for the NCAA Tournament.

One Final Time
Before Saturday's match vs. Lewis, the Truman volleyball program will recognize its four seniors. They are No. 3, Savvy Hughes, No. 10, Claire Wandrey, No. 18, Natalie Brimeyer, and No. 26, Holly Hildebrand.

Up Next
Next up for Truman, as mentioned above, is the GLVC Tournament on Nov. 8-10 at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill.
