RECAP: #6 Upper Iowa Defeats Truman Wrestling In Opener

FAYETTE, Iowa – #6 Upper Iowa University defeated the Truman Wrestling team 56-0 in the opening dual for the 2018-19 season.

Maleek Williams, ranked number one in the country at 125, moved up to 133 to face Truman's freshman Zach Williard. Williams scored a 12-6 decision win.

Justin Folley won by fall over Caleb Osborn at the 5:30 mark in the 141-pound match.

At 165, Tucker Black defeated Zach Taylor by technical fall, 18-3 in the second period.

Freshman Vin Kriegshauser lost by fall with 10 seconds left in the first period to Jamie Gehling in his collegiate debut at 184 pounds.

Nick Baumler, ranked third at 197 and one spot ahead of Truman's Sam Reeves in Division II, defeated Shane Gallagher by fall in the first period. Baumler defeated Reeves in the All-America match last year at nationals but with Reeves still on the gridiron this fall, the rematch will have to wait until at least the NCAA regionals in February.

The Peacocks were awarded 30 points on five forfeits.

Truman will compete next at the Millikin (Ill.) University Open on November 10.
