RECAP: Tennis Begins Spring Season

Men vs. Quincy | Men vs. USI  | Women's Results

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.  – The Truman Tennis teams began their spring campaign over the weekend. The men fell 8-1 at Quincy and 9-0 to Southern Indiana, both non-conference matches, while the women lost three duals over in the Stony Creek Indoor Invitational in St. Joseph's, Missouri.

Paul Province and Arpit Sahoo had the only win for the men with an 8-6 victory in the number one singles match. Province won his first set at number one singles 6-1 but dropped the next two to Danyil Vayser 6-2, 7-5.

On Friday, the women fell 5-2 to host Missouri Western. Maura Dunn and Lindsey Schlichting had an 8-6 win in the top doubles spot while Kayla Peterson and Finessa Rassel downed the Griffons number three doubles team by the same 8-6 score. The Griffons took the first four singles matches to close out the win.

Following that, Dunn and Schlichting continued to roll in the top doubles spot as they scored the only team point in a 5-1 loss to Newman (Kan.). The duo won 8-4.
Saturday, Truman was shutout by Augustana (S.D.) 5-0.

The women will next be in action on February 25 with a neutral site match against Bellarmine in Elsah, Illinois.
