KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Volleyball team will embark on their final road trip before the Midwest Region Crossover this weekend as they head to Maryville and Missouri S&T for two more conference matches. The Bulldogs got their first conference win of the season last Friday as they took down Indianapolis 3-0.
Jocelynn Livingston led the team with 13 kills against Quincy, the second time in the last five matches she led the team there (nine at Lewis on September 27
th). She is second on the team with 155 kills and her .279 hitting percentage is the best on the team. Freshman
Ainsley Heise leads the team with 44 blocks, with a season high seven coming against Missouri Western in September. She set career highs in points (10.5) and kills (9) in the victory over Indy last Friday night.
Truman has won their previous six matchups with Maryville, with five of those matchups being 3-0 sweeps. All-time Truman owns an 8-1 advantage in the series. This season Maryville comes in with a 4-13 overall record and winless in conference play at 0-5. Cassidy Arndt leads the attack with 191 kills, 3.35 per set, which ranks tenth in the GLVC. She also leads the team with 16 aces. AJ Hallemann leads them with 237 digs, and Ardnt is second with 135.
The Miners have won 12 matches so far this season, but are just 2-3 against GLVC opponents. They started the season 11-2 but dropped three in a row before defeating Maryville Tuesday night. Their attack is led by Emilee Schlader, who has 253 kills on the season, 3.82 per set, which is fourth best in the conference. She is also second in points with 4.33 per set. Calla Meyer is second in the conference with 1.32 blocks per set—52 overall this season. She and libero Corinne Stulce lead a defense that is limiting opponents to just a .140 hitting percentage, second best in the conference. Truman is 10-1 against them all-time, the only loss coming in 2015.
After this weekend the team will head to Indianapolis for the Midwest Region Crossover on October 18-19, where they will take on teams from the GMAC and GLIAC; schedule still to be announced.
