KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman volleyball team will play their first home matches of the season this weekend as they host Indianapolis and Bellarmine. The Bulldogs come into the conference second in digs per set with 17.62, and Lauren Wacker maintains her lead in individual digs with 283, 5.55 per set. Morgan Smith sits at fourth in kills per set with 3.68 per set and 173 overall.
Indy comes in on Friday night riding a two match winning streak as they opened conference play with sweeps over Maryville and Missouri S&T. Overall they are 10-2 on the season and have won six of their last seven, falling 3-0 to #14 Hillsdale on September 22nd. Katie Furlong leads the team in kills with 191, 4.15 per set (second in the conference). As a team they are hitting .250 and averaging over 13 kills per set. Alyssa Spears leads the team with 505 assists and 11 service aces. Truman has taken three of the last four matchups between the two teams, including a 3-1 win last season.
Bellarmine comes in with a mark of 10-4 and has won six of their last seven. They dropped their conference opener to Missouri S&T but rebounded to beat Maryville in their last match. Kristen O'Toole is averaging 9.33 assists per set, tenth in the conference. She adds 13 service aces, or .39 per set—fourth best in the conference. Karleigh Wilson ranks sixth in the GLVC in digs per set with 4.16. The Bulldogs won at Bellarmine last year, snapping a two match losing streak to the Knights. Since joining the GLVC Truman has won four of six matchups in the series.
The next match is on Tuesday, October 8 at home against Quincy, starting at 7 p.m. Following that they head to Maryville and Missouri S&T.
