KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Volleyball team will conclude their regular season against McKendree on Friday night and then Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day.
The team will honor five seniors on Saturday before the match against Southern Indiana: Elle Renault, Lauren Wacker, Meghan Gasper, Jocelynn Livingston and Ambria Whitlock. Wacker currently holds the program record for digs per set with 5.03—the only player in Truman history to pass five digs per set, has 54 career 20-dig matches and seven career 30-dig matches; which are both program records (the latter is tied for first).
Wacker continues to lead the GLVC in digs per set this season with 5.85, with 579 total digs this season. She is on track to be just the third player in program history to reach 600 digs in a season, with Abby Moser (who reached the mark twice) and Whitney Boehler. Ellie Kaat has moved into tenth in the GLVC in total kills per set with 3.30—in GLVC play she is averaging 3.37 kills per set which is eighth best in the conference.
McKendree is still on the outside looking in for a bid into the GLVC Tournament, making this match crucial for both sides. The Bearcats are led by Gracie Marr, who is eighth in the GLVC in assists with 8.94 per set. Hope Gramly is sixth in blocks with 1.16 per set, with 95 on the season. The Bearcats have taken the last three meetings in the series, including a 3-2 win last season and a win in the 2017 GLVC Tournament.
For Southern Indiana, Leah Anderson is tenth in the GLVC with 3.76 points per set. She also leads the team in kills with 313, as well as aces with 28. The Bulldogs have taken the last three meetings in this series, including a 3-0 sweep in Evansville last season. Since joining the GLVC, TSU has taken four of six meetings in regular season play and both of the meetings in the GLVC Tournament.
The Bulldogs still have a slight hope of making the GLVC Tournament, but in addition to winning their two matches this weekend will require significant help for that to happen.
