KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—Following an 0-2 road trip to Michigan this weekend, the Truman Men's Basketball team returns to Pershing Arena for their home opener against #7 Missouri Southern State this Thursday.
Brodric Thomas leads the team with 22.3 points per game—third in the GLVC so far this season, and is tied with Cade McKnight for the team lead in rebounds with six per game. Thomas is also tied with Hunter Strait for the team lead in threes with eight. Strait's nine three point attempts at GVSU was a career high, with four made he tied his career high which he had set against Cedarville earlier this season.
Turner Scott tied his career high with four steals against Grand Valley State, and is currently tied for second in the GLVC with 2.5 steals per game. Furthermore, with 5.25 assists per game he ranks fifth in the conference.
Despite dropping both games in Michigan, the team shot a higher percentage from the floor (.472, 25-53) than in their first two games. In addition, they made 16 three pointers over the two games which is five more than the two games in Ohio to open the season.
The Opponent:
The Lions began the season ranked #10 in the preseason division two coaches poll, but this week moved up to number seven. They have begun their season in strong fashion by beating Winona State by 21 and Minnesota State-Mankato by five in the MIAA-NSIC Challenge before throttling Saint Mary (Kan.) by 50 on Sunday. Cam Martin leads the team with 24 points per game and is also the leading rebounder at 9.7 per game. In their victory over St. Mary's the Lions had five players in double figures—led by Martin with 18. Kinzer Lambert added 16, with Winston Dessesow adding 11 and Stan Scott and Dexter Frisbee with ten.

The team will have a week off before participating in the Washburn Thanksgiving Classic against Washburn and Newman on the 29th and 30th.
