RECAP: Truman Finishes Sunday At GLVC Championship Duals

INDIANAPOLIS – The Truman Wrestling team competed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships over the weekend at the University of Indianapolis. The format was six dual matches between the seven schools.

Sam Reeves led the team with a 5-1 record followed by Zach Williard at 3-3. Reeves was voted second-team all-GLVC following the meet.

Truman will compete at home for the only time this season when they face the University of Central Missouri on Wednesday and Graceland University on Thursday. Both duals begin at 7 p.m.

Ouachita Baptist 27, Truman 10
Zach Williard got Truman on the scoreboard at 133 with a 16-6 major victory over Michael Crockett. Caleb Osborn followed with a 9-5 win over Michael Billups at 141. Zach Taylor was pinned in 4:33 by Tyler Mann in the 157-pound bout. Justin Villegas defeated Vin Kriegshauser 9-5 at 174. Sam Reeves picked up a 5-3 decision win over Augustus Boyd and 197 and at heavyweight, Shane Gallagher was pinned by Tanner Hawkins.

McKendree 53, Truman 0
McKendree's Charles McNeal won by major over Zach Williard 11-3 and Riley Beard defeated Caleb Osborn by tech fall 18-1. Zach Taylor was pinned in the second period by Nate Smalling. Dan Fillipeck defeated Vin Kriegshauser by tech fall 20-5. Ryan Vasbinder pulled out an overtime win over Sam Reeves 6-4 and Vinnie Scaletta pinned Shane Gallagher at the 1:16 mark.

Maryville 50, Truman 6
Taylor Jokerst defeated Zach Williard 6-4. Tyler Stegall pinned Caleb Osborn in 6:19. Nick McGhee won by technical fall over Zach Taylor 16-0. Matt Pratt defeated Vin Kriegshauser by fall at 2:26. Sam Reeves won by forfeit at 197.

Drury 34, Truman 12
Zach Williard defeated Chris Hansen 6-1. Peter Kuster won by major decision over Caleb Osborn 20-9. Zach Taylor won by forfeit at 165. Dylan Komperda pinned Vin Kriegshauser at 1:51. Sam Reeves won by decision, 6-2 over Dylan Ballew.

Indianapolis 50, Truman 3
Tylan Tucker pinned Zach Williard in the first period at 133. Matt McKinney won by major decision 16-3 over Caleb Osborn at 141. Zach Taylor lost by technical fall to Shelden Struble at 165. Gleason Mappes defeated Vin Kriegshauser by tech fall 20-3 at 174. Sam Reeves defeated Duane Deerwester 5-2 at 197.

Bellarmine 42, Truman 10
Zach Williard pinned Casey Ragle 58 seconds into the third period. Alex Rhine defeated Caleb Osborn by fall at the 1:45 mark. Eric Beck won by technical fall over Zach Taylor. Andrew Sams pinned Vin Kriegshauser at 1:26. Sam Reeves won by major decision 13-3 over Brett Bryant.
