KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Men's Basketball team began the decade with a 15 point win over William Jewell on Thursday night, before dropping a nail-biter against Rockhurst Saturday. For the first time in over a month and the first time this decade, the team will be on their home floor as they take on Missouri S&T Thursday and Maryville Saturday as they continue their GLVC schedule.
Brodric Thomas has reached multiple milestones this season—breaking into the 1,000 point club earlier in the year and currently sits 24
th in Truman history with 1,080 career points. Against the Hawks on Saturday he broke into the top ten in program history in career blocks with 70—tying Matt Beran for tenth place. His 22.4 ppg maintains his position of second in the conference behind Lindenwood's T.J. Crockett; and 21
st nationally. Against William Jewell he tied two personal bests with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Alex McQuinn has reached double figures in three of the last four games, and four times this season. Against William Jewell he set a new career high with 14 points. Then against Rockhurst he set a new career high with three steals. Both he and
Turner Scott picked up two blocked shots against Rockhurst, a career high for Scott.
Hunter Strait has reached double figures in three consecutive games and led the team with three treys against Rockhurst.
The Opponents:
Missouri S&T was picked to finish 16
th in the conference in the preseason, and enter the contest 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the GLVC. The Bulldogs have won four straight in the series, including the only meeting last season 70-65. Dulan Scott leads the team with 14.7 points per game and is second on the team with 4.4 rebounds per game. Mitch Fairless is third in points with 10.9 per game and second in rpg with 6.6. Chima Oduocha leads the team in boards with 6.9 per game.
Maryville was picked 12
th in the preseason poll, and come into this week with a mark of 4-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Bulldogs won seven straight in the series from 2014-18 before the Saints won 85-78 at Pershing Arena last year. Parker Long leads the team with 15.2 points per game while Jalen Gant is second with 15 ppg and leads the team in rebounds with 6.3 per game.
