CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.—The Truman swimming teams finished the final day of the GLVC Championships with another strong day that involved setting new records.
Following the conclusion of the event, coach Jerod Simek said; "We are extremely proud of our team and the way they stepped up on day 4! The women continued to put distance between us and McKendree and hold onto 4th and the men made a big surge highlighted by the 200 back to put them over Lewis to claim 7th. There were two more school records broken (M 200 Back, W 200 Breast) and 4 B cuts.
Our seniors were a huge part of our success this year and their leadership will be missed but I know they have left an impact on our team moving forward."
Connor Neils finished 8th in the men's 200 back with a time of 1:54.16, which set a school record. Natalie finished third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:14.48, also a school record.
The women's team finished fourth with 914 points, while the men were seventh with 468.5 points. Qualifying for nationals are the women's 400 Medley Relay team (Natalie Galluzzo, Emma Brabham, Holly Olson and Kaylee Sisson) and the other national qualifiers will be released February 26th. Ginny Schranck and Mark Franz are among top contenders to be named when the list comes out. Nationals will be in Geneva, Ohio from March 11-14.
