Box Score

TOPEKA  - Cameryn Patterson drove in two more runs to up her weekend total to nine but costly errors led to six unearned runs in a 9-2 loss to Fort Hays State to wrap up the Washburn Invitational on Sunday.

Patterson hit her second triple of the weekend and her fourth extra base hit in the top of the first inning that scored Emma Walbert and McKenzie West to stake Truman out to a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers got a run back in their half of the first and tied the game in the second on a single through the right side after an error put the runner in scoring position.

Fort Hays would add five unearned runs in the third to break things open and ended up winning 9-2.

Patterson finished the weekend with a .600 batting average with two triples and two homers out of her six hits. She drove in seven in Truman's win on Saturday against Wayne (Neb.) State and two more against the Tigers. For the season, she is hitting .423 in the first 10 games.

The Bulldogs will be off until the conference opener on March 12th at home against Missouri S&T. It will be the first home game for Truman Softball since April 27 of 2019.
