PDF Notes | Live Stats | KRES Online | GLVCSN

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman State Men's Basketball team moved up to #2 in the NABC poll this week, and begins the GLVC Tournament Wednesday as they host the University of Indianapolis at Pershing Arena. Truman has won three straight over the Greyhounds--including last year's GLVC semifinal against them; as well as two regular season match ups this season.

This season, the Bulldogs downed the Greyhounds 66-64 in Indianapolis in the second game of the season and then 79-67 in Kirksville in February.

Cade McKnight has now moved to 29th all-time in career points for the Bulldogs with 1,040. He finished the regular season 9th in the conference with 17.2 points per game, which led the Bulldogs. He recorded two double-doubles, and was named GLVC Player of the Year this week as well as GLVC First Team. He was one of just three unanimous selections.

Peeters is second in the GLVC with 9.3 rebounds per game. He's also second on the team with 13.0 points per game and leads with 17 blocks. He finished the year with nine double-doubles, which was tied with five other players for the fifth most in the country.

Scott is averaging a career high 11.8 points per game, and needs just four more to reach 1,000 career points. He finished first in the GLVC with 5.8 assists per game by a wide margin (and top 10 in the country)--second place is Conley Garrison at 5.1. With 33 three pointers, he is third on the team--behind Masen Miller with 46 and Hazekamp with 39.

Miller had his third 20 point game of the season against Rockhurst when he led the team with 23 points. Hazekamp has two double doubles on the season, showing offensive ability as well as crashing the boards. He is second on the team with 7.3 rebounds per game and fourth at 11.2 points per game.

As a team, Truman is second in the GLVC in scoring with 78.6 points per game and first in scoring defense at 68.0 points allowed per game. The Bulldogs have a scoring differential of +10.6, well ahead of second place Southwest Baptist's +7.7. The Bulldogs rank first in field goal percentage at 50.3%, and third in field goal defense at 43.0%.

Greyhounds Scouting Report

The Greyhounds started the season 0-7, but won 10 of their last 14 games to become the replacement team when Southern Indiana withdrew from the GLVC Tournament.

Dee Montgomery led the team in points per game this season with 14.6, one of four players to average in double figures. Jesse Bingham and Cory Miller average 12.7, and Kendrick Tchoua at 11.1. Tchoua also averaged 7.1 rebounds per game to lead the team, while Miller led with 67 assists.

Series History

The Bulldogs have played UIndy 11 times, with the Greyhounds holding a 7-4 advantage in the series. The Greyhounds took the first four meetings before Truman got their first win, and then took the next three but Truman has taken the last three games. Last year Truman took the GLVC semifinal game, in which Brodric Thomas led the way with 32 points and 14 rebounds as the Bulldogs won 88-77. Earlier this season in Indianapolis it was another nail biting finish that is a trademark of games between these two as the Bulldogs persevered 66-64. Peeters had a double-double with 14 points and 14 boards. In Kirksville earlier this season Truman jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first half and never looked back in the 79-67 victory.

Coming Up

The GLVC Tournament semifinals and final will be held this weekend on the campus of the highest seed remaining in the tournament. Following the GLVC Tournament, the Bulldogs are one of the teams under consideration for one of the six spots in the midwest regional--which will be hosted by Southern Indiana University.
