NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Truman Baseball team closed out its four game set with #9 Trevecca Nazarene Saturday afternoon and fell 8-0 in the first game and then 18-4 in the second game. Justin Campbell (3-0) picked up the win in the first game while Michael Daggett (0-3) took the loss and in game two Caleb Marks (1-0) while Alex Leary (1-2) took the loss.
Game One
Truman got two baserunners in the top of the second inning, but left runners on first and second while they were down 1-0; with Sam Smith getting Truman's first hit of the game. In the fourth Trevecca brought their second run in. In the top of the fifth Dakota Spicer picked up the Bulldogs second hit of the game, but was unable to advance on the bases. In the bottom of the fifth the Trojans scored two more runs and then four in the bottom of the sixth to make it an 8-0 game.
Game Two
Trevecca scored the first three runs of the game, all in the bottom of the first. In the top of the second, Jack Owens led off with a single, followed by a single by Holden Missey and then a bunt single from Will Fromm. Spicer then singled to bring two runs in, making it a 3-2 game.
In the top of the third, Luke Turner reached on an error and then with two outs Missey doubled to deep center to bring Turner in and tie the game at three. Trevecca got two runs in the bottom of the third, but in the top of the fourth Truman answered with a run as Jake Schneider walked, then advanced on a pass ball and balk. Simon Murray singled up the middle to bring Schneider in and make it 5-4.
From there Trevecca scored 13 unanswered.
The Bulldogs will be back in action next week at Maryville, with the first game coming Friday at 2:00 pm.
