Bulldogs Split Saturday Doubleheader Against Kentucky Wesleyan

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Truman State baseball split Saturday's doubleheader against Kentucky Wesleyan, taking game one 8-3 and losing 5-4 in extras in game two.

Game One:

The Bulldogs got off to a quick start, going up 4-0 in the first inning. Luke Turner drove in Tal Dean with a single to get Truman on the board, then a Dylan Thompson single brought Turner in. Will Fromm reached on an error, bringing Holden Missey across to score and a Jack Darwin line drive single drove in Thompson.

Truman added four more in the fourth and fifth innings. Murray scored on an error by Wesleyan's catcher in the fourth. Simon Murray walked with the bases loaded to score Dylan Thompson, and Tal Dean hit a two-RBI single to score Darwin and Tyler Tieman.

Kentucky Wesleyan scored their three runs in the fifth and sixth innings. One of the runs being a home run.

Holden Missey had a productive day on the mound and at the plate. He threw six innings, allowing three earned runs and four hits. He struck out three Kentucky Wesleyan batters. Missey went 2-4 hitting along with a run. 

Justin Maloney picked up the save, allowing one hit in his inning pitched.

Jack Darwin went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI.

Dylan Thompson went 2-3 with an RBI, two runs, and a walk.

Tal Dean went 1-3 with two RBIs and a walk.

Game Two: 

Jack Darwin scored the first run of the game in the second inning off a catcher error to go up 1-0.

Kentucky Wesleyan quickly took back momentum with a Jaret Humphrey three-run home run in the bottom of the third.

The Bulldogs took the lead back in the fifth off a Will From RBI single. Darwin and Will Fromm scored later than inning off an error from Wesleyan's second baseman.

Wesleyan hit a game-tying home run in the sixth and won the game in extras off a Fromm error at third.

Fromm went 2-4 hitting with an RBI.

Cole Eggerding threw five innings, giving up three runs, five hits, and striking out five Wesleyan batters.

Jaren Guck threw an inning, giving up a run.

Tucker Olson took the loss, throwing 1.1 innings. He gave up the winning run but it was unearned.
