PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg State swept both ends of a doubleheader against Truman Baseball on Saturday. The Gorillas won the opener 10-3 and the nightcap 12-0. The teams will wrap up their series on Sunday with a single game.
In the opener, the Gorillas plated a trio of runs in the second to take the lead.
Colin Mueth picked up an RBI single in the third bringing in
Charlie Berry to cut the margin to 3-1.
Pitt responded right back with two more in their half of the third and added a pair in the fourth.
Ian Thornton brought home
Owen Browning and
Gavin Schieffer with a two-run single to right field to cut the margin 7-3.
The Gorillas added insurance in the sixth inning with three more runs.
Pitt State's Kolby Dougan was a strike away from throwing a seven-inning no-hitter but
Dakota Joggerst broke up the bid with a two-out double to left field.
The Gorillas score runs in each of the first five innings and won 12-0.
