FAYETTE, Iowa – Upper Iowa capped four unanswered runs with a walk-off home run to sweep Truman State in a GLVC doubleheader Saturday.

Dakota Joggerst to give the Bulldogs an 8-6 lead into the bottom of the eighth, but the Peacocks got two in their half and a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to win, 10-8. The Purple and White mustered only five hits in Game 1, falling 5-0, after scoring 16 runs in Game 2 of Friday's double dip, finishing 1-3 in the weekend series.
Upper Iowa stifled the Bulldog offense in Game 1 allowing just five hits and a walk while striking out four. Freshman
Nick Phillips, in his first start since a 10-5 win against St. Cloud State (Minn.) Sunday, gave the bullpen the game off working six surrendering five runs on ten hits. Junior

Alex Wittenauer clubbed his third two bagger of the season.
Game 2 saw the 'Dogs answer Upper Iowa runs in the fourth and fifth to trail 4-2 after their half of the fifth when sophomore
Oliver Degenhardt knocked a three-run double to give Truman State a 6-5. Browning scored on a Peacock error in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to 7-5. Upper Iowa's Gunnar Wickland slammed a solo home run in the Peacock seventh to cut the lead to 7-6, but Browning hit the single to score Joggerst in the eighth. A sac fly and wild pitch evened the score at 8-8 after eight, then a home run from Upper Iowa's Brock Zimmer finished off the Bulldogs, 10-8.
Truman State finishes the series 4-15, 1-3, while Upper Iowa goes to 7-11, 4-4 GLVC. The Bulldogs return to action for a four-game series at William Jewell (Mo.), March 21-23.
