LIBERTY, Mo. – Truman State fell to William Jewell (Mo.) in seven innings Friday evening, 13-3 in Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball action.
Two of the Cardinals three home runs of the day, including a grand slam by Jewell's Jordan Phillips, came in the first two innings to put the Bulldogs behind 6-0 early.
Dakota Joggerst scored on an
Owen Browning grounder to second in the fourth to get Truman State on the board, but a leadoff walk in Cardinal half led to three runs – including a two-run jack by Camden Dayton – opening an 11-1 lead.
Joggerst,
Rawlins Brant, and
Oliver Degenhardt all collected safeties with a
Charlie Berry double accounting for the fourth Bulldog hit. Starter
Danny Lindsey pitched two innings surrendering eight runs, all earned, with
Bryce Balistreri giving up five runs in four innings of relief. Charlie Rambo picked up the win for William Jewell pitching seven innings.
The Bulldogs finish the day 4-16, 1-4 GLVC, while the Cardinals improve to 9-12, 2-7 GLVC. The two continue the four-game set with a Saturday double header starting at 1 p.m.
