For the first time since 2018, the Truman Bulldogs have brought home the GLVC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award.
Addy Janssen, the sophomore libero, was the distinguished winner of the award for her performances over the weekend in the Bulldogs Friday night comeback victory against the Maryville Saints 3-1 and during the 3-0 sweep over the Missouri S&T Miners on Saturday.
Over the course of those seven sets, Janssen accumulated 51 digs (averaging 5.86 digs per set) and added 12 assists (1.71 per set). Her standout performance came against Maryville, where she logged 24 digs, 6 assists, and a service ace. Her consistency and defensive presence were instrumental in stabilizing Truman's back row and allowing the offense to execute.
This marks the first defensive player of the week award for the Bulldogs since Lauren Wacker in 2018 and is the first women's volleyball player of the week award in any capacity during Head Coach David Gannon's tenure, marking a turning of the tide moment for the program.
