Cross Country Rolls To Top Finishes At Haskell

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Bulldog Men's Cross Country team repeated as team champions and the Truman Women finished second to the #21^st ranked team in the NAIA, Benedictine (Kan.) at the Haskell Indian Nations Invitational on Saturday.

Brice Pavey led four Bulldogs in the top 10 in the men's race as Truman accumulated 29 points for the victory. Benedictine was second with 57 in the 10 team field. Alumnus Brad Hart was the overall winner at 25:26.5 with Pavey finishing in third overall but top scoring collegiate at 26:17.4.

Andrew Gordon was next for Truman at 26:33, good for fifth and Tyler Gardner was sixth, 11 seconds behind.

Keegan Walsh was 10^th overall at 27:11 in the eight kilometer course. Nick Terreri rounded out the Bulldog five with a 16^th place overall showing with a time of 27:42.

Laura Tarantino battled Benedictine's Katherine Dillard until Dillard was able to pull away for the overall championship in 18:25. Tarantino finished second at 18:34.

Angela Buch was the next Bulldog to cross the five kilometer finish line at 19:14.

The next six Bulldogs were in a pack that finished within one minute of each other. Jesse Dinkins was 12^th (19:36) followed by Eva Klingenberg in 13^th (19:43), Victoria Soncasie in 19^th (19:53), Micheala Hylen in 21^st (19:54) and Kim Kaster in 22^nd (20:06).

Benedictine scored 37 points to hold off the Bulldogs, who scored 46 in the 12-team race.

Next up for the teams is the first conference championship to be decided this school year for any sport. The Great Lakes Valley Conference championships will be contested on October 24 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha.
