(HAYS, Kan.) – Despite a slow start, the No. 11 Truman volleyball team recovered to earn a 3-1 (18-25, -18, -18, -20) win at Fort Hays State on Saturday night in Gross Memorial Coliseum. Sophomore Emily Briseno led the Bulldog offensive attack from the middle of the court with a ten kill effort on just 19 attempts.

FHSU jumped out and stunned the Bulldogs by delivering the first punch, a 25-18 win in the first set, but Truman (21-4, 10-3 MIAA) turned up the defensive pressure and raised their offense all the way to a match-best .406 mark in the fourth set to bounce back and take the next three frames by comfortable margins.

Briseno's ten kills led all Bulldogs, while senior Allison Barker added nine kills and 17 digs. Four other Bulldogs totaled six kills each, including sophomore Heather Hargadine who added nine digs and junior Erin Burmester who complemented her kills with a match-high five blocks. Senior libero Casey Bruno paced the back line with a team-best 18 digs, while fellow senior Ashley Petak (23) paced the setting.

Truman will close a three-match road trip on Tuesday night at Southwest Baptist University.
