(MARYVILLE, Mo.) – Sophomore Olivia Hayes scored the tying goal in the 77th minute to salvage a point in MIAA play for the Truman women's soccer team following a 1-1 tie at Northwest Missouri State on Saturday afternoon.
Hayes (Clayton, Mo., Clayton) took a pass from freshman
Hayley Bollwerk (St. Louis, Mo., Ursuline Academy) with 13:11 to play in the match and scored to knot the game at one apiece after NWMSU got on the board in the 12
th minute on an unassisted goal by Emilee Davison.
Truman again out-shot its opponent by a wide margin, dominating the Bearcats 20-8, but finding pay-dirt continued to be a struggle for the Bulldogs, who have now scored ten goals in 11 games, and six in nine MIAA contests. But at the same time, the defense remained strong, giving up just the seventh goal of the season, as junior keeper
Jayne Grisham (Bridgeton, Mo., Ursuline Academy) dropped her GAA to 0.61 on the year.
Hayes now has 16 career goals, four outside of Truman's all-time top ten, while Bollwerk notched her first collegiate point with the assist.
Truman (5-2-4, 4-1-4 MIAA) will travel to Nebraska-Omaha on Thursday (Oct. 14) afternoon to take on the Mavericks in a 4 pm start from Omaha.
